Run For A Cause

The Pease7k is a 7 kilometer run and Kids Fun Run for the benefit of charity.  We appreciate all who have come out for past events and possibly future events.  Here I’d like to talk about the benefits of the organizations we have run for in the past.  These are 2 excellent charities with long histories of helping those in need.  We could go on forever about how great they are so I’ll try to keep it short.

The Minuteman Fund

The Minuteman Fund is an organization dedicated to preserving the integrity and history of the militia and the National Guard.  The fund was formed in 2000 as a way to help families in need of assistance for things like funeral expenses, emergency travel expenses, rent, food, utilities, and so much more.  From 2000 to 2016 The Minuteman Fund was able to help 1,416 with over $600,000 worth of aid all from private donations.  The organization is run exclusively by volunteers and aims to as best as possible complete their mission.  Their mission statement is: To award grants to members of the Washington National Guard and their families who find themselves in temporary financial need.

Make-a-Wish Foundation

The Make-a-Wish Foundation was founded in 1980 and is currently headquartered in Phoenix, AZ.  The Make-a-Wish Foundation has 62 chapters within the United States and the chapter in New Hampshire is the one we donate to.  Make a Wish New Hampshire grants a wish to a child diagnosed with a life threatening medical condition every 4 days.  Their goal to inspire others and bring joy to those children in the worst condition is an admirable one and a major reason Pease 7k chooses this organization to donate part of the proceeds of the event to.  The New Hampshire chapter has recently granted wishes ranging from building an artificial ice rink in a backyard to meeting racing superstar Danica Patrick.

Sponsors

This event is made possible not only by our participants but also by our sponsors.  Together they help put on this special event to help those desperately in need of help.  In the past we have had sponsors such as Northwest Credit Union, Service Credit Union, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Lenk Orthodontics, PlaneSense, and so many more.  We recently picked up a credit repair company that writes extensively about how to improve a credit score to round out our sponsor list.

Runners

We welcome everyone to join the race and give to these very worthy causes.  Historically, we have had runners ranging everywhere from 11 years old all the way up to 65+.  We invite everyone to come out and enjoy this run.  It can be a bit challenging compared to a lot of other runs but we know that it isn’t about winning or losing or race times.  This is all about giving to these great charities and having a good time in the process.
